Jennifer McFarland Ingalls
Kendrick High School English Teacher since 2011
Greetings! I am always hesitant in writing a short bio because I never know what parents and students really want or need to know about me. However, I am fairly transparent in that you are generally able to contact me through Facebook or text, so I'll just explain a bit of my background here.
I am originally from Moscow, Idaho, where my father has been a professor of English since 1970 at the University of Idaho. My mother is also a retired English teacher; however, she specialized in English as a Second Language. I graduated from high school in 1993 and from college in 1996 (B.A. Literature), completed coursework for a M.A. in English in 1998, but decided to become a police officer rather than finish my thesis. I worked as a Latah County deputy for about 9 years, most of which was spent in the Detective's Division. In 2006, I had an much needed split with that career and entered into a Marketing and Advertising job with local radio stations. After my daughter, Mia, was born in 2009, I returned to college and earned a B.S. in education (minor in History) with certifications in Language Arts and Humanities and an endorsement in Speech. Upon completion of that degree, I went into the family business: teaching. I have been at KHS ever since and am grateful for that every day.
In addition to Mia, my family includes my husband Keith and son Spencer (born in 2014). We live in Genesee, but I enjoy the peace of my commute each morning. Last year, I was able to start coaching KHS's Track Team, tying in my love of sports to my already great job. I am honored to get to continue teaching at KHS this year, and I look forward to each of my students everyday. My courses this year include: 10th, 11th, and 12th grade English, Dual credit English 101 & 175, Senior Project, Speech, and Sports in American Culture. It will be an exciting year!
